Lewis will go down in NFL history as one of the most menacing linebacker threats ever. He played 17 bone-crushing seasons, all for the Baltimore Ravens, where he won Defensive Player of the Year honors twice. The 13-time Pro Bowler recorded more than 2,000 tackles and won MVP of Super Bowl XXXV.
Prior to his Super Bowl MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, he pleaded guilty to an obstruction of justice in connection with the deaths of two men in Atlanta. His lawyer and the district attorney struck the plea deal to lower the murder charge against Lewis down to the misdemeanor if he testified against the other defendants.
Lewis received 12 months’ probation.
