Burress had a long career as an NFL receiver, playing from 2000 to 2013 despite a two-year break while he was in prison. He finished his career with 8,499 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns.
He’s probably best known for accidentally shooting himself in the leg at a New York City nightclub. He did not have a license for the gun. Later, a search of his residence found a second gun for which he did not have a license.
Burress also got sued for causing permanent injury in an auto accident after his car insurance had expired. He also got sued by a car dealership for a leased Chevy that he got in exchange for appearing at publicity events. He kept the car and never attended the events. He also got into trouble for failing to pay taxes.
