DWM Thumbnails in xPaintTexture
Posted on Thursday 02 July 2009 - 19:25:50 by Andymon
Ok, the another package. I have (maybe) added DWM Thumbnails in xPaintTexture.
  1. ...PaintingMode .dwmthumbnail
  2. ...ThumbnailHWNDS "SOURCECLASS" "SOURCEWINDOW" "DESTCLASS" "DESTWINDOW"
Both windows MUST exist! The DEST would be "xLabel" "labelname", since only xLabel supports it atm (at least i think so).
Another change in xLabel:
You MUST enable DWM features (Glass or the thumbnail feature) with
  1. ...UseDWMFeatures BOOL

Well, if everything works you should see a thumbnail of the SOURCE "top-level" window in a xLabel with PaintingMode .dwmthumbnail.

Beside that i still need some feedback about the region Aero Glass effect with MagicPink and "...TextureAlphaTranslucency" (look at the previous posting).

Again: I cannot test anything Vista/Win7 related! I need much and detailed feedback, otherwise these version will "never" be officially released.

Download the package here

OK, another test and last new feature :)
Posted on Thursday 25 June 2009 - 18:11:04 by Andymon
This new build contains xLabel-4.4 alpha and xPaintClass-1.0 Update 7.
In xPaintClass i have added SDK related changes to the IsOS function, which can now recognize Vista and Win7. Since the other values must be backwards compatible (Win7 >= Vista >= XP >= Win2000) there is a rare chance that something doesn't work therefore i have added this test version.

Beside that i have added a new setting "...TextureAlphaTranslucency", which simply DOESN'T remove MagicPink out of an texture!
Why?
Because this way you can define areas which will be blurred. MagicPink -> Transparent Glass
Restriction: This works only on the main background. If you want a texture upon the glass area you need to use an extra OverlayLabel (because of the MagicPink).

Otherwise xLabel-4.4 should work better then the old version, but i still cannot test it.

Download xLabel-4-4 Alpha with xPC U7 here

Ok, it works
But now someone must test:
"...TextureAlphaTransparency BOOL" feature of xPC in combination with "...AlphaTranslucency". Is the MagicPink region blurred and the rest normal?
Does "...Alphatranslucency" work with all kinds of labels. (Maybe use an advanced theme and set "GlobalAlphaTranslucency true".)
...
Testing, Testing, Testing, ... and maybe a themer who will actually create a Vista/Win7 theme with the Aero Glass feature, because this way i get the best bug reports, requests or general feedback.

DWM Glass again
Posted on Tuesday 23 June 2009 - 18:03:12 by Andymon
Ok, here a new test for some of you
I need testers with either Vista (not the Basic version without Aero) or Win7. Aero or transparent Glass should be enabled!

The Glass effect isn't a real problem according to MS, simply call 3 functions upon a given HWND and that's it. Well, maybe it's that easy, but maybe not, especially with the special feature requirements of LiteStep.

What you can test with this build of xLabel-4.4:
1. Do the functions actually work?
2. Has xLabel now some kind of Glass effect

I have added a small default window in xLabel, which should be rendered correctly with Aero Glass, if my functions work.
4.4AlphaTranslucency true
Simply add this line somewhere in your theme and you should see a small "dwm Test" window WITH enabled Glass effect. If not, well then you'll can stop testing because the function don't work the way i use them.

If a DWM function fails somehow, you should get a MessageBox which tells you the name if it.

If the "dwm Test" window should have Glass, then you can try Labels with "...AlphaTranslucency", but Glass requires Top-Level windows, so i had to do some changes, which might screw the "broken" zOrder even more.

Trying to add DWM Glass (without any knowledge) :)
Posted on Saturday 20 June 2009 - 16:43:13 by Andymon
Well, i have tried to add Glass (Blur Behind Window) support to xLabel without Vista, Win7 or even the appropriate Platform SDK available.
So there is no real chance that it really works, but maybe.
Anyway, if you have Vista or Win7 you can test xLabel-4.4 Alpha, which has only one setting:
  1. ...AlphaTranslucency BOOL
It will nag you with some messageboxes (always, its not designed for daily use) so that you can at least report what the last message before the crash was. If the setting is set to true you should see some kind of effect, if not then there's no real chance that it will work in the next months anyway.

Download xLabel-4.4 and report "that it doesn't work"

Update 21.06 18:00
Download the archive again and report back

LsLua-0.8
Posted on Friday 19 June 2009 - 10:43:26 by GothsSecret
I think i got most of the bugs out this time and didn't break anything.

0.8:
- finally fixed that "failed to index __bangs, a userdata value" (or so) bug
- !Luaexec is registerd before *LuaFiles are executed
- fixed a issue with lslua.rc_lines and litestep 0.25
- major cleanup of the code
- lslua functions do a bit more error checking
- added some support for rabidvwm to lsmodule

You can download it here or at the usual mirrors soon i guess. If you find issues it would be nice to open a ticket or write me a mail. Digging around in the forum looking for problems is not quite effective ^^
